Saudi Arabia Hosts Global Health Hackathon to Power AI-Driven Healthcare Innovation
Saudi Arabia hosts the HSIL Hackathon 2025 for the first time, showcasing Vision 2030 in action by empowering local talent to build AI-powered healthcare solutions and drive national innovation.

As Saudi Arabia accelerates its transformation under Vision 2030, one groundbreaking event is set to spotlight the Kingdom’s bold leap into health innovation: the HSIL Hackathon 2025.
For the first time, the Harvard Health Systems Innovation Lab (HSIL) will bring its globally recognized hackathon to Jeddah, placing Saudi Arabia firmly on the global map of AI-powered healthcare innovation. Scheduled for April 11–12, 2025, and hosted at Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Hospital – Alfaiha, the event is organized in collaboration with Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College (MBSC) and hosted by Dr. Sulaiman Alhabib Academy.
Themed “Building High-Value Health Systems: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence,” the hackathon reflects the Vision 2030 directive to transform public services through technology and empower Saudi talent to shape the nation’s future.
Health Innovation That Serves the Nation
The HSIL Hackathon invites over 120 participants to design scalable AI-powered solutions to real-world healthcare system challenges, including:
- Early diagnosis and precision imaging
- Digital tools for patient communication and care
- Solutions for public health literacy and engagement
- Predictive platforms for preventive care
- Scalable pediatric and chronic care models
This event is more than a competition. It is a platform for national development—providing a space for cross-disciplinary collaboration that fuses technology, medicine, and strategic thinking.
Building a HealthTech Ecosystem from the Ground Up
Aligned with Vision 2030’s goals for economic diversification and knowledge transfer, the hackathon functions as a high-impact engine for local talent development. It bridges academic institutions, government, and the private sector, with participants receiving mentorship from leading professionals in AI, clinical practice, and health strategy.
The most promising solutions will advance to a post-hackathon bootcamp and may be invited to join the HSIL Venture Incubation Program, ensuring the ideas generated don’t stop at the prototype—they move forward toward implementation.
A Strategic Milestone
Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the HSIL Hackathon marks a pivotal moment in its rise as a hub for digital health innovation. It signals to the world that the Kingdom is ready not only to adopt global best practices but to lead and localize them—anchored in the country’s unique vision, resources, and talent.
