Sports Boulevard in Riyadh: A Visionary Leap Toward Urban Wellbeing
Welcome to the Sports Boulevard—known locally as AlMasar—a groundbreaking project launched by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) as one of the cornerstone initiatives of Vision 2030.

How ALMasar is Transforming the Capital into a Global Hub for Health, Movement, and Community
In the heart of Riyadh, a new kind of road has emerged. Not built for traffic, but for transformation. Not just for motion, but for meaning.
Welcome to the Sports Boulevard—known locally as AlMasar—a groundbreaking project launched by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) as one of the cornerstone initiatives of Vision 2030. Designed to inspire movement, community, and urban wellness, the Sports Boulevard redefines what it means to live in a modern Saudi city.
What is the Sports Boulevard?
Stretching over 135 kilometers, the Sports Boulevard is the longest linear park in the world, running from Wadi Hanifah in the west to Wadi Al Sulai in the east.
This monumental urban corridor includes:
- More than 4 million square meters of greenery
- Dedicated paths for walking, jogging, cycling, and horseback riding
- Open-air gyms and recreational zones
- Professional sports facilities
- Cultural and art installations
- Sustainable infrastructure powered by solar energy and smart lighting
The project is more than infrastructure—it’s a city-wide lifestyle experience, centered on wellbeing, accessibility, and inclusivity.
A Launch That Moved the City
The official launch, held under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was a celebration of what’s possible when urban planning meets human potential.
Drone shows, cycling parades, fitness challenges, and interactive exhibitions turned Riyadh into a stage for its future. The event didn’t just announce a project—it revealed a new vision of active, connected living in the capital.
A Pillar of Vision 2030
The Sports Boulevard is one of four mega-projects shaping Riyadh’s transformation under Vision 2030, alongside:
- King Salman Park – the largest urban park in the world
- Green Riyadh – a city-wide greening initiative
- Riyadh Art – an open-air art museum experience
These projects are designed to support Riyadh’s evolution into one of the world’s top 10 city economies by 2030, while improving quality of life, boosting tourism, and creating new cultural and economic opportunities.
The Sports Boulevard plays a unique role—it’s the wellness engine powering that transformation.
Why the Sports Boulevard Matters
In an age where cities are becoming denser and more stressful, Riyadh offers a bold counterpoint:
A place where wellbeing is built into the blueprint.
The Sports Boulevard encourages citizens to live healthier, more connected lives—on foot, on wheels, on horseback. It empowers people to explore their city in ways that nurture both body and soul.
It’s a physical, cultural, and emotional upgrade for the capital.
What’s Next for Riyadh?
The Sports Boulevard will be completed in phases, with several key areas already under development, including:
- The Art District
- The Equestrian Trail
- The Urban Park and Event Spaces
As each phase opens, Riyadh will become more than a capital city—it will become a global model for active urban living.
This isn’t just a path through the city.
It’s a path to the future.
